A good choice
For a perfect connection with your amplifier, the CantoLink 400 speaker cable is a good choice, available in our online store. It is a six-core high-end speaker cable developed by us with a special core and jacket - for the best possible sound quality. You can use your A 55 in a classic stereo setup and enjoy pure music with it. Or you can use it as the main speaker in a multi-channel home theater set with the matching A 35 or A 45 series models.
If it may be a little bigger
The A 55 is an impressive high-end floorstanding speaker. One size larger than our much acclaimed anniversary speaker A 45, the A 55 can show what it's made of when it comes to high and highest sound levels. The 3-way bass reflex speaker is excellently equipped to meet even extreme dynamic demands. In each of the floorstanding speakers, three 200 mm woofers provide an incomparably sovereign bass performance. Our best drivers from the Reference series with aluminum-ceramic tungsten cones, mounted in the low-loss Wave surrounds, are used in the A 55. With the large enclosure volume at its back and the downfire bass reflex channel to support it, the A 55 offers opulent low-frequency reproduction from as low as 20 hertz. The dynamic requirements are met by the 180 millimeter diameter midrange specialist, which is equipped with the same high-tech cone material.
Attention to detail
Like all our loudspeakers, we manufacture the A 55 in our factory in Weilrod in the Taunus region of Germany. This is the only way we can maintain the necessary quality standards, minimize tolerances, eliminate any defects and keep the high sound demands on our speakers. The cabinet of the A 55 is made of high-density fiberboard (HDF) and is extremely stable thanks to the thickness of the material and additional bracing on the inside. The cabinets have a high-quality finish, are lavishly lacquered and are available in white satin, black "high-gloss" and real wood veneer cherry "high-gloss". Like its smaller sister - the A 45 - the A 55 operates as a downfire bass reflex system and has generously rounded cabinet edges, which benefits the sound dispersion enormously. The three-way high-end speaker not only sets visual accents with its elegantly curved aluminum base construction. The result is a modern and clean look, so that the A 55 feels at home in any living ambience.
Investing in the best technology
The A 55 weighs in at 49 kilograms. This is the result of the solid, multi-stiffened, high-density fiberboard cabinet, the best speaker drivers of our Reference models, the heavyweight, sound-optimized crossover components and the solid aluminum base construction. Inside, the finest speaker cable and strategically placed damping material ensure the highest quality sound. The A 55 is equipped with a high-quality biwiring/ biamping connection terminal, allowing the woofer and midrange to be driven separately with different amplifiers or with specialized cables. 24 carat gold-plated, stable screw terminals with an accommodation of cable cross-sections up to 10 mm2, ensure optimal signal transmission. The high-quality and acoustically neutral full-size fabric covers in black conceal the direct view of the technology if necessary and hold elegantly by magnetic fastening.
